MOBILE phone retailer TeleChoice will remain an exclusive Optus dealer until at least 2013, after agreeing to a contract extension with the telco.

The Melbourne-based company, which has supplied phones on the Optus network since 2001, said the new five-year deal would give it certainty to expand its network of 120 stores.

"The renewed deal will allow our store growth to continue across Australia, ensuring consumers have both choice and great deal options when it comes to mobile phones," TeleChoice chief executive Ehab Abdou said.

The unlisted TeleChoice, which operates many franchise stores in shopping centres, plans to open at least 80 more stores in the next two years. -- JESSE HOGAN
